A Quick Read
By Mariam
Stay by C.C. Jackson follows a girl, Callie Rose, ripped from her home in the middle of the night and forced into the world of the fae-a world she once belonged to, but has long since forgotten.
I bought this book because it was only 99 cents and came highly recommended by a couple friends. While the dialogue came off as a little too formal in my opinion (after all, this is a young adult book), Stay was fast-paced and a truly quick read-I finished it in two hours.
I absolutely cannot stand weak heroines who rely on others to guide them through their life journey. Callie was definitely not one of those people. While she came off as a little whiny sometimes, she certainly stepped up her game by the end of the book and took charge of the situation. She initially tried to avoid her responsibilities but, eventually, Callie came to realize the necessity of her actions and she literally fought for what she wanted and so what she thought was right.
The romance, or rather, the love triangle, was also a little rushed and both of the "potential guys" seemed bipolar and weird. But in the end, I approved of Callie's decision with regards to who she should be with.
Overall, I recommend this book to anyone with a love of faeries and who are just in need of a quick, and relatively good, read.

Needs a Lot of Work
By Donna Crabtree
I didn't hate this book, but the plot and characters were definitely underdeveloped. I also found Callie's character to be rather shallow at times. She goes from living in the human world where she has literally NEVER had a boyfriend or even a kiss and then suddenly in the fairy world, every guy is trying to get her? I didn't buy it, and also found the constantly shifting feelings and viewpoints of Callie to be too knee-jerk. The writing style was juvenile enough that I doubt seriously that I will be reading any of the future Callie Rose books in the series.

Whoa, Whoa, Whoaaaaa!! What?
By Sarah Marie
Okay, Stay is pretty quick-paced to say the least. Callie is kidnapped on like the second page, then she's taken to Petrona and proposed to on like the twentieth page? I wont go into all the nitty-gritty details, but let me tell you, there are plenty. I feel like all of the information in this one book could have - and maybe should have - been divided up into its own little saga.
As a result of Jackson's bombardingly rapid movement of plot, exploring certain events and characters is pretty much out of the question. There isn't enough book to go thoroughly into a subject and conflicts are resolved with relative ease. This book is the epitome of pretty little resolutions wrapped up in bows. I wasn't bothered too much by it, but it's not ideal.
I've noted in other book reviews how much I loathe love at first sight (Not in real life folks. In books). Well, imagine my disappointment when she completely surpasses that and accepts a marriage proposal in the second or third chapter of the book. I was momentarily grievous at the utter loss of tense, developed romance. Although there were... complications, the "insta-bond" is still there; however, in a more strained manner, which I am more partial to. It allows for growth and discovery I think.
The story, in general, is intriguing. I'm interested in how Callie handles things now that she's gotten herself into the position she's in. I'm also curious to see how her relationships advance and what she learns about her powers.
I wouldn't go out of my way to recommend Stay to anyone; but if you're looking for something to pass the time, it is a good book for that.
