This book gathers tons of historical map data from previous products and fills in stories for other points of interest,and then goes clan-by-clan, region-by-region to detail chunks of Rokugan.
Some fans have complained that when you set something down on paper like this, you take away the ability of the GM to make changes to the setting to fit their game, but the introduction makes it very clear that these maps are the "best available," but they were provided by Imperial mapmakers working from maps provided by the various Clans, so their accuracy is not guaranteed. In other words, "Fit these maps to your campaign, not the other way around." And that's what a fantasy map book should do.

I've wanted this book for years! I like that it is written as a tool box instead of stuck in a specific timeline...especially because I'm a bug fan of the older story vs the new.

This is pretty much a super sourcebook of the Rokugan campaign setting/lands.

Great book. Extremely useful GM resource. Very glad I got this. Yet again I am beyond impressed with this (the best) edition of L5R. Great detail and background for each area.
