This is a textbook for complete beginners in classroom. It is not a book designed for those studying on themselves. It contains very detailed English usage and the information is given at a steady pace. It takes a whole year to complete the book in classroom but almost all the important grammar items have been learnt for daily oral purpose. I use it in my classes and I like its recordings very much. It's very English though. There is also an American version of recording but I have never used it.

It is is the book I started learning English from. I was 11. I have been looking for a copy for ages, to read it with my son. At last here it is. Everything perfect, except for the price. A little bit expensive, yet I would have paid even more.
The condition of the book are good.

Alfred's Basic Country Piano Book Level 1 has some really fun selections that offer a challenge beyond the other level one books. While I could sight read many of the numbers in the sacred and popular collections, I have had to really work on most of these because they include conventions of country music not commonly used in other genres: the addition of grace notes, certain styles of bass playing reminiscent of guitar picking, the use of parallel thirds and sixths rather than simple chords and thirds, harmony above the melody in some cases. I am quite certain, however, that once I learn the songs, I will enjoy playing them. The first four songs are pretty simple songs written in C. The rest of them have either a syncopated melody or a challenging bass pattern or some accidentals to be aware of. Many of these conventions did not appear in the regular lesson book. Songs in order of appearance are "Beautiful Brown Eyes," "The Yellow Rose of Texas," "I Wish I Was Eighteen Again," "Old Joe Clark," "Worried Man Blues," "Your Cheatin' Heart,"
"Cold,Cold Heart," "Swingin'," "King of the Road," "Mammas, Don't Let Your Babies Grow Up to Be Cowboys," "Make the World Go Away," and "Green, Green Grass of Home." I would recommend this book to any beginner who would like a challenge.

If you are fascinated by old woodworking tools, this book is a must. A history and evolution of woodworking puts it all in perspective. The book is adequately illustrated (line drawings - no photos). The writer does a great job of explaining how to actually use some vintage tools - such as an adze, broadaxe, drawknife, etc. Surprisingly, some old technology has simply has not been improved upon, and this book will help the modern woodworker rediscover those forgotten secrets.

the definitive book on the subject

If you could have only one book on primitive wood working tools and skill sets, this would be " that book ". It's a hard cover with good layman definitions and instructions on how and why the tools and skill sets were used and the evolution of both. This book also has easy to understand illustrations of every subject discussed. This was the first book that I bought on the subject. Every other book that I have purchased on primitive wood working has paled in comparison. A great book, one of my most cherished.

My Dad loved this book! It was a Christmas gift. He was sick at the time and is very interested in the way things were accomplished before the modern equipment that he uses. He loaned it to someone who would have never returned it, and I drove to the man's house to retrieve it. There are not many things that my Dad would sit and read other than his Bible and equipment manuals, but this was a perfect gift!

great undergraduate text

I assigned this book as a text for an introductory undergraduate course in popular culture because it quickly develops a solid understanding of the notion of culture, class distinctions and foundational Western cultural values and then brings all this together in a discussion of hi vs. pop culture and the nature of (pop) culture in a global, mobile society. What is more, it does this all in a remarkably short span, while still introducing foundational sociological theorists and theories, and does this in an engaging way by connecting theories to issues of everyday life. The book also introduces issues of class in a way that students don't reject--not an easy trick nowadays. Chapters 3 and 4 are also excellent examples of deductive and inductive argument, and the author uses well described and well chosen examples throughout (perhaps with the exception of his discussion of a novel at the start of the first chapter).
